Books and music were her comfort while growing up on a ranch in Western Nebraska, but unfortunately Nicci’s got zero talent in singing, or playing an instrument.

So she took to writing her own stories in grade school, elaborate detective novels that wrapped in 10 pages or less. As time went on she focused more on poems of heartbreak, and essays on the importance of Jimi Hendrix.

Then, at the end of her childhood, traumatic events began making yearly arrivals into her life. This unsettling slew of tragedy encouraged her to leave Nebraska and get a fresh start in Portland, Oregon.

Nicci’s found almost nothing but happiness in the Pacific NW, and trauma rarely comes to call anymore. Her love for writing has never changed, and in early 2024 she published her first book, her memoir Bad Luck Boots. She’s also busy writing Delevay Falls, a horror novel, as well as a second memoir about her 20 years in Portland.
